UNION, N.J- The Saint Peter's baseball team fell to NJIT in a 3-13 game at Jim Hynes Stadium Thursday afternoon.
The Peacocks (0-8) started off strong but had a rough day on the defensive end trying to stop the Highlanders' (4-6) momentum.
Bobby Lavely recorded a home run, putting two RBIs on his line for Saint Peter's, with
Joey Dwyer and
Jace Gilligan trailing behind with two RBIs of their own.
HOW IT HAPPENED-
Saint Peter's and NJIT had great defensive efforts, leaving both teams runless till the bottom of the third inning where the Highlanders would go on to score five runs, which was answered back at the top of the fourth with a home run by Lavely to send him and
Ian Huang to home plate. This was followed up with the Peacocks halting NJIT to zero runs at the bottom of the fourth and fifth.
At the top of the sixth inning, SPU would score one more run from a grounded ball by
Jace Gilligan, which allowed Dwyer to run home. NJIT responded with five runs of their own.
Going into the seventh inning, Saint Peter's struggled on both ends of the field by not recording a run and allowing NJIT to score two more runs at the bottom of the seventh.
UP NEXT-
