UNION CITY, NJ– The Saint Peter's Peacocks softball team will open MAAC play with a three-game series against the Quinnipiac Bobcats March 7-8 at Washington Park in Union City. First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 12 p.m., followed by game two at 2 p.m. The series concludes Sunday at noon.
LAST TIME OUT
In game one, the Peacocks totaled nine hits and six RBIs, with
Olivia Christopher, Hannah Klotz, and
Danni Forrester leading the way at the plate in the 6-2 victory. Christopher went 2-for-3, while Klotz and Forrest both went batted .500, with the freshman recording a pair of doubles.
Game two saw Saint Peter's collect seven hits in the 6-0 loss, with Klotz again pacing the offense with a 2-for-3 effort. In the final game, Saint Peter's totaled seven hits, including three extra base hits, but was unable to capitalize with runners in scoring position in the 6-0 defeat.
ABOUT THE PEACOCKS
Christopher is batting .500 with a 1.045 OPS, pacing the team with five hits after the first weekend of play, ranking third in the conference for hitting.
Morgan Lipansky secured her first win of the season, pitching a complete game, matching her season high from last year with nine strikeouts, holding opponents to a .160 batting average.
Gabriella Rivera came in for 3.1 innings of relief, striking out three, and is posting a 1.91 ERA and 1.61 WHIP.
ABOUT THE BOBCATS
Quinnipiac enters the week with a 4-5 record after opening the season in two tournaments. At the UNLV Tournament, the Bobcats fell to Seattle and UNLV, but picked up a win over UC Davis. During the Battle of the Bay, Quinnipiac won three of four games, defeating St. Francis Brooklyn, Hampton University, and Stony Brook before falling to Norfolk State on the final day.
Catcher Kennedy Demott leads the Bobcats offensively, batting .455 with a 1.174 OPS. Through nine starts, she has recorded 22 hits and four extra-base hits.
In the circle, Shannon Kendall is 3-3 in six starts with a 7.15 ERA and a 1.75 WHIP across 30.1 innings pitched. First-year pitcher Laney Adie has provided relief, tossing 14.1 innings with a team-high 13 strikeouts while posting a 6.35 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP.
Quinnipiac is led by head coach Hillary Smith, who is in her fourth season at the helm.

Saint Peter's is 5-20 all-time against Quinnipiac, with the Bobcats sweeping the most recent series in 2024. The Peacocks last won against Quinnipiac in 2023, taking game two of the doubleheader, 4-2.
AROUND THE MAAC
Conference play begins this weekend across the MAAC, with 10 programs opening league competition.
Canisius enters conference play with the top nonconference record at 4-4, followed by Quinnipiac at 4-5. Marist sits at 6-12, while Siena holds a 3-6 record.
Saint Peter's enters conference play at 1-2, while Rider is 4-9, and Fairfield is 3-9. Sacred Heart Pioneers sit at 2-8, while Mount St. Mary's is 2-12, and Iona is 1-8.
Opening MAAC series this weekend includes: Marist vs. Fairfield, Merrimack vs. Mount St. Mary's, Rider vs. Iona, Siena vs. Sacred Heart, and Saint Peter's vs. Quinnipiac.
