NEWARK, N.J.- The Peacocks fell to the Highlanders in a 4-8 loss at Yogi Berra Stadium on Sunday morning.
Despite the loss,
Bobby Lavely and
Steve Polizzi had themselves a game, with an RBI each, followed by
Ian Huang and
Jackson Thorne.
Marcus Monroe was on the mound for Saint Peter's, playing in four innings, only allowing 4 hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED-
SPU would not get their first run of the game till the top of the fourth inning, with Polizzi sending a home run to left field to cut the game to 1-2. The Peacocks put in a strong defensive effort against NJIT, not allowing any runs at the bottom of the fourth.
Saint Peter's went on to score two more runs with Lavely sending a single down right field with
Chase Fogg to run home, adding an RBI to Lavely's line. This was followed by Huang sending it to center field, allowing Lavely to score a run. NJIT will then answer back with two runs of their own, ending the fifth inning 3-4.
NJIT would start gaining momentum, scoring four runs at the bottom of the sixth inning. The Peacocks will have issues at bat till the ninth inning with Huang grounding to the shortstop to first base, allowing The Highlanders to tag Lavely out and Fogg to run home, ending the game at 4-8 loss for SPU.
