Peacocks Rally for Game One Comeback, Split with Lafayette

EASTON, PA– The Saint Peter's softball team (7-30) split with Lafayette (11-28) in a midweek doubleheader at Lafayette Softball Field, mounting a comeback to win game one, 10-8, before falling 7-5 in game two Wednesday afternoon.

The Peacocks erased a five-run deficit in the opener behind a 12-hit performance. Ava White (2-6) earned the win in relief, tossing 1.2 innings and allowing just two hits.

Carlee Charles paced the offense with a perfect 4-for-4 day– the first by a Peacock this season– launching her second home run of the year while adding two runs scored and four RBIs. Olivia Christopher delivered the go-ahead hit, marking her 100th career hit.

Lauren Czerwinski continued her strong stretch, finishing 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while Paige Seemon went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

In game two, Gabriella Rivera (1-3) went the distance, allowing four earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts. The Peacocks tallied 10 hits, with freshmen Angela Tremarco and Kayla Foy each recording two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE

Lafayette jumped ahead early, using a leadoff double, a single, and a walk to load the bases before a grand slam gave the Leopards a 4-0 lead.

Saint Peter's chipped away in the fourth when Paige Seemon reached on an infield single and Carlee Charles followed with a two-run homer to cut the deficit to 4-2.

After being held in check through five innings, the Peacocks pulled within one in the sixth. Charles singled, and Angela Tremarco drove in pinch runner Aine Curley to make it 4-3.

Lafayette responded with a five-run sixth to extend its lead to 8-3 heading into the final frame.

Saint Peter's answered with a seven-run seventh to complete the comeback. Angelina Wagner and Bella Nutting reached to start the inning before Lauren Czerwinski drove in a run with a single. A combination of walks and base hits from Seemon and Charles tied the game, and Olivia Christopher delivered the go-ahead hit to right-center. An insurance run capped the rally, and the Peacocks held on for the 10-8 win.

GAME TWO
Lafayette opened the scoring in the second with a solo home run and added another run on a triple and a wild pitch to take a 2-0 lead.

The Leopards extended the advantage to 5-0 in the fourth following an error, a single, and a three-run homer.

Saint Peter's responded in the fifth. Angela Tremarco singled to lead off the inning, and Steph Bendzlowicz doubled her home. Kayla Foy followed with a single, and Danni Forrester brought in another run on a bunt to cut the deficit to 5-2.

Lafayette added two more runs in the sixth to go up 7-2.

The Peacocks threatened in the seventh, scoring three runs behind a string of singles from Foy, Paige Seemon, Charles, and Olivia Christopher, but were unable to complete the comeback, falling 7-5.
