JERSEY CITY, N.J.- The Peacocks (5-42, 1-24 MAAC) fall to Merrimack (21-26, 15-10 MAAC) in a 16-5 defeat on Friday afternoon.
Kurt Thomas started on the mound for Saint Peter's, where he pitched for three innings and faced 19 batters, allowing eight hits.
Bobby Lavely would have a great performance, adding two homeruns to his line, which has already been an exceptional season at the plate for the first baseman.
HOW IT HAPPENED-
Merrimack would open the scoreboard early in the first inning with one run and an additional three runs at the top of the second. The Peacocks would answer back with two runs of their own from a Lavely homerun and
Ryan D'Ambrosio getting picked off at first, giving
Chase Fogg time to get to home plate.
The Warriors would add a total of six runs between the third and fifth inning, with Saint Peter's struggling at the plate by only adding one run from an
Alex Manent ground ball to the shortstop, which sent
Allen Ramos to score.
Merrimack would continue to pile on six more runs at the top of the sixth with the Peacocks answering back with two runs of their own, one run coming from another Lavely homerun and the second one from a Ramos single to left field, sending
Luke Schwartz to home plate.
Both teams would struggle at bat, with neither side adding any runs between the seventh and the ninth inning, ending the game as a defeat for the Peacocks.
