JERSEY CITY, N.J.- Seeing their first action on the friendly home pitch at Jaroschak Field, junior
Connal McErlain netted a pair of goals, including the late game-winner, the lift the Saint Peter's men's soccer team past VMI in their home opener.
The Peacocks notch their first win of the season to improve to 1-1-1 overall, while the Keydets dropto 3-2-0 on the season.
Following a defensive standoff during the first 45 minutes of play, McErlain drilled home a penalty kick in 59th minute of play to put the Peacocks in the lead.
VMI pulled even at 1-1 nine minutes later and the teams fought for an edge at time ticked down.
McErlain broke through in the 87th minute of play with the go-ahead goal, exciting the Peacock faithful in the stands and sending Saint Peter's home with a well-earned victory.

Sebastian Heredia-Randen was stellar in net, stopping three Keydets shots to earn his first collegiate victory.
The Peacocks return to the pitch on Tuesday, September 1 as they welcome Temple to Jaroschak Field for a 3 pm kick-off.
