JERSEY CITY, N.J.- Saint Peter's (1-12, 1-1 METRO) lost to Marist in three sets (18-25, 21-25, 14-25) to close out the weekend.

The Peacocks recorded 34 kills and 31 assists, with help from Alondra Fargas and Victoria Pruvost.

HOW IT HAPPENED-
SET ONE-  
Marist would open up the scoreboard with a four-point push as the Peacocks struggled to find an answer early on.
​
Karolina T. Rodriguez Mendez would help SPU answer back with a kill following an assist from Fargas; soon after, Mendez would get another kill to cut the lead to 2-6 in favor of the Red Foxes.
​
Marist added two more points after the kill, making the Peacocks call their first timeout of the set.
​
After the timeout, the Red Foxes would commit a service error to give SPU a point; the Red Foxes would get a kill to extend their lead to six points.
​
Marist would end their run with an attack error; the Peacocks would take advantage of the opportunity with Valeria Pagan Munoz serving an ace to trim the lead.
​
With the set at 9-16, the Peacocks looked for some signs of momentum as Munoz got a kill in the middle of the set; Mendez got an ace to push the Set to 11-16
​
Marist went on a three-point run, making the Peacocks call their second and final timeout of the set.
​
Munoz would get an additional kill following an assist from Fargas to trim the lead at 12-21.
​
Ioanna Veveraki and Julia Whaley would show up for the Peacocks as Veveraki would serve an ace and Whaley would get a kill to add to her line.
​
The first set would end with a kill from Marist to end it at 18-25.
​
SET TWO-
The set second would see the Peacocks strikign first after a striking first after an attack error caused by a block from Mendez.
​
Early into the set, both teams would go point for point, with Natasha Tejeda and Whaley getting involved to keep the game at 8-8.
​
Soon after, the Red Foxes added four points to the board to force the Peacocks to take their first set two.
​
Mendez would get her first kill of the set in quick succession after the timeout; Marist would respond with a kill of their own.
​
As the Red Foxes held on to their lead, the Peacocks would begin to come back following a kill from Victoria Pruvost to have the set at 12-16
​
Later in the set, the Marist would hit the final blow to ruin any hopes of a comeback for the Peacocks, ending at 25-21.
​
SET THREE-
Marist would open the set with five straight points, making the Peacocks call an early timeout.
​
Soon after, Fargas would add a kill to her line following a Briana Tuten assist; Marist would make a quick substitution and get two more points on the board to have the set at 1-8
​
Later in the set, Purvost would get a kill after a Zumra Yavuz assist. Then Marist took control of the game by going on a four-point run. The Peacocks put an end to the run with another kill from Purvost.
​
In the final plays, Marist would close out the set and take the game with one final kill to close out the game at 14-25 in favor of Marist.
