WEST ORANGE, N.J.- The Saint Peter's women's soccer team fell to the Seton Hall Pirates 0-2 this afternoon in West Orange, NJ. The Peacocks battled hard in the first half of the game, but ultimately came up short in the second half. 

The Peacocks struggled offensively compared to the Pirates; however, Saint Peter's defense put up a hard battle. 

Saint Peter's was outshot 2-19, but Sophomore goalkeeper Bergljot Kristinsdottir made nine saves throughout the game.

WHAT HAPPENED:
FIRST HALF:
The Pirates' offense started the game hot, having two shots in the opening five minutes. The Peacocks struck back when freshman forward Elise Viggiano struck the ball on goal. However, the Seton Hall keeper was able to make a save.

The Peacocks continued to be tested by the Pirates, with Kristinsdottir earning two saves from the 11 to 14 minute mark. Seton Hall's Kaylin Mallon was fouled in the box, which helped the Pirates earn a penalty kick in the 34th minute. Kristinsdottir made a diving save to stop the kick from going in. This gave the Peacocks momentum going into halftime tied 0-0.

Kristinsdottir had five saves at the half. The shots were leveled at 1-1 for both teams.

SECOND HALF:
The Pirates dominated, registering three shots in the opening eight minutes. The Pirates opened up scoring in the 68th minute when Gianna Angelillo found the back of the net. Kylie Ray had the assist.

Seton Hall netted a second goal just over ten minutes later. Macie Mietz shot the ball after a cross came into the box that was distributed by Sabrina Campbell. 

Asza Leighton was disciplined with a yellow card in the 57th minute.


UP NEXT:
The Peacocks have a bye this weekend and will head to New Haven, Connecticut, where they'll take on the New Haven Chargers at 6 P.M. ET. They will look to secure their second win of the season.
