Matt Henry begins his fifth season as an assistant coach on John Dunne's coaching staff in 2017-18.

During the 2016-17 season, Henry helped guide the Peacocks to a historical run by claiming the 2017 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) title, the programs first ever national postseason tournament championship. Saint Peter's became the second MAAC team ever to win a national postseason tournament and the first team from New Jersey to win a national postseason tournament title since Princeton in the 1975 NIT. The Peacocks closed out the season winning 11 out of their last 12 games and finished the season with a 23-13 overall record, which was tied for the second most wins in a single season by a Peacock team, and a 14-6 MAAC record, the most conference wins ever in a single season by a Peacock team. The team also finsished the MAAC regular season in second place, the highest finish by a Peacock team since the 1988-89 season.

Over the course of Henry's four seasons in Jersey City, the Peacocks have posted four wins in the MAAC Tournament and have made two trips into the MAAC semifinals in 2015 and 2017. With Henry on staff, Saint Peter's has wins against Rutgers and Seton Hall after a thrilling 83-80 overtime win against Seton Hall in 2013-14 and a 68-50 win against Rutgers in 2014-15. Over the course of his four years, Henry has coached four Peacocks that scored 1,000 points in their career, seven All-MAAC selections, and the program's first ever MAAC Defensive Player of the Year and Lefty Driesell Defensive All-American Team member.

Henry spent 2012-13 as a scout and consultant on a variety of different basketball projects. He returns to the collegiate coaching ranks after serving as acting men's basketball head coach at Mount St. Mary's for the final four games of the 2011-12 season. Henry served as an assistant coach at the Mount for two seasons before finishing his second season as acting head coach.

Henry made his head-coaching debut as the 21st head coach in program history with the Mountaineers against Fairleigh Dickinson. Mount St. Mary's defeated the Knights 77-63 on Feb. 16, 2011 in a game telecasted as part of the Northeast Conference (NEC) television package. Henry then won his final game as acting head coach with a 71-62 victory against Bryant on Feb. 25, 2011 to post a 2-2 record in the four games.

Henry joined the Mount's coaching staff in 2010. Despite losing three of its Top-5 scorers from the previous season, the Mountaineers finished 9-9 in league play and advanced to the NEC Tournament for the sixth-straight season. Mount St. Mary's lost in the first round of the conference tournament to Quinnipiac.

Prior to his two-year stint at the Mount, Henry was the Director of Basketball Operations at Georgetown. The Hoyas went 139-62 with four appearances in the NCAA Tournament and two trips to the NIT.

Henry joined Georgetown's staff and spent the first six seasons of the John Thompson III era in the nation's capital. In the first season with the Hoyas, Georgetown finished 19-13 and advanced to the third round of the NIT.

Georgetown participated in the NCAA Tournament in the next two seasons after posting a 23-10 mark and a 30-7 record in 2005-06 and 2006-07, respectively. The Hoyas advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2005-06 and then the squad produced its best season and first Final Four appearance in 21 years.

Georgetown returned to the NCAA Tournament in Henry's fourth season with a 28-6 record before an NIT bid and NCAA Tournament appearance in his final two seasons in Washington, D.C.

Henry got his start in coaching as an assistant coach at Trinity University in Texas. He spent three seasons with the Tigers and helped the team to a 63-20 overall mark, a 37-9 record in conference play and to a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Tournament titles and NCAA Tournament appearances.

After helping Trinity to an 18-7 record and a second-place finish in his first season, Henry and the Tigers then won the first-ever SCAC Tournament and earned a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament after posting a 21-8 overall mark and 11-3 standing in conference play. Trinity lost a heartbreaker 67-66 to Aurora in the first round of the NCAA Tournament that season. In Henry's final season in San Antonio, the Tigers, Trinity won the SCAC regular season and tournament titles with a 24-5 overall record and a 12-2 mark in the circuit to earn its second-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.  The Tigers lost in the opening round of the tournament in his final game as an assistant coach with the team.

Henry graduated from Trinity with a degree in urban studies and political science in 2001.
