opening tee… The Saint Peter's men's golf team heads to the Monmouth Quad Match on Thursday to compete against Fairleigh Dickinson, Hofstra and Monmouth in a one-round event in Deal, N.J.
last time on the green… Nicholas Dilio finished tied for third to pace the Saint Peter's men's golf team at the Last Chance Classic on Sunday. The event was an individual one-day 36-hole event with no team scores. Dilio posted a 78 in the first round and a 74 in the second round to finish third with a two-round score of 152, two strokes behind the medalist. Eric Edmunds also placed in the Top-10 after carding a 77 and 78 on the afternoon to finish with a 155 in eighth place. Brian Grubbs (16th place, 159), Andrew Gain (19th place, 162), Brandon Molson (24th place, 171), Richard Jakubowski (26th place, 183) and Steven Competiello (27th place, 186) also competed for the Peacocks.
next time with the clubs… Saint Peter's will have its final tune-up for the MAAC Championships when the squad hosts the Peacock Invitational on Apr. 23.
a successful fall… Saint Peter's won three of the seven events in the fall after winning the ECAC Championships, the Monmouth Quad Match and the Seton Hall Barnabas Health Invitational. Eric Edmunds won the medalist honors at the ECAC Championship and the Monmouth Quad Event.
a golf weekly favorite… Saint Peter's was tabbed as the Metro Atantic Athletic Conference preseason favorite according to Golf Weekly, finishing ahead of defending champion Loyola while Fairfield, Iona, Canisius, Manhattan, Siena, Rider and Niagara rounded out the poll.
high value on edmunds... Sophomore Eric Edmunds was named the MAAC Golfer of the Month for the month of September. The sophomore won the ECAC Championship and finished second at the Rutgers Invitational while averaging 73.8 strokes per round in 10 rounds in the month.
new feathers in the peacock… Head coach Peter Falloon added freshmen Steven Competiello, Nicholas Dilio and Richard Jakubowski to the team for the 2012-13 campaign.
about the coach… Head coach Peter Falloon is in his sixth season at the helm of the men's golf team. He is a 1965 graduate and was a member of the 1964 undefeated squad that won the MECCA Championship. Falloon was named the MAAC Coach of the Year in 2012 after the Peacocks finished second in the MAAC Championships.
