Zoe Pero Scores 17 Points to Lead Women's Basketball in Loss Against UMass Lowell

The Peacocks lost their first game of the season against UMass Lowell 57-59

LOWELL, MA - The Saint Peter's women's basketball squad lost in a nail biter against non-conference opponent, UMass Lowell up in Massachusetts on Friday night. Forward Zoe Pero scored a team high 17 points against the River Hawks in the game.
 
Game Notes vs. UMass Lowell:
  • In the first quarter, Briyanah Richardson scored the first three points for the Peacocks from behind the arc. 
  • Trailing later that quarter, Anna Maguire sank a 3-point shot to tie the game 11-11.
  • In the second quarter, Tyara McQueen hit a three for the first points of the quarter for the Peacocks at the 5:25 mark.
  • The Peacocks and the River Hawks went back and forth for the remainder of the quarter, staying neck and neck with each other. 
  • Wil'lisha Jackson notched six straight points to give the Peacocks their first lead in the second quarter, which Saint Peter's held going into the break, 29-28.
  • After a quick Peacock basket to start the second half,UMass Lowell went on an eight point run before D'Aviyon Magazine put a stop to that by sinking a three at the 4:48 mark, to pull Saint Peter's back within two, 34-36. 
  • Going into the fourth quarter, Pero scored eight straight points to give the Peacocks the lead at 57-55.
  • With the score tied at 57, Jackson stole the ball but the River Hawks stole it back, and Ren'Cia Rolling made the go ahead jumper to give the River Hawks the two point lead to finish the game. 
Inside The Numbers:
  • The Peacocks had three players record double digit points against UMass Lowell. 
  • Pero scored a team high of 17 points and finished with four rebounds. 
  • Pero shot 7-9 from the field and 3-5 from the free throw line.  
  • Jackson added 12 points for the Peacocks and grabbed six rebounds.
  • Magazine contributed 10 points for the Peacocks.
  • Cinnamon Dockery had a team high of seven rebounds for the game, and dished out four assists against UMass Lowell.
  • Richardson dished out a team high of five assists and grabbed six rebounds.

  • The Peacocks stay in Massachusetts this weekend.
