Swimming & Diving Set to Host Tri-Meet on Saturday for Senior Day

The Peacocks will welcome Monmouth and LIU Brooklyn on Saturday

Opening Dive
  • The Saint Peter's swimming & diving teams return home for the final time of the season on Saturday, January 19.
  • The Peacocks will host hOURglass Rival Monmouth and LIU Brooklyn at 2 p.m. on Senior Day.
  • The men's team has posted a perfect 7-0 overall record and 2-0 record in the MAAC to start the season, the best overall start in a season for third year head coach Mark Kretzer.
  • The women's team comes into the meet 0-8 overall and 0-2 in the MAAC.

Last Time out
  • The men's team improved to 7-0 this season by defeating Lafayette 165-100 on Monday, January 14.
  • The women's team fell to Lafayette 84-134.
  • Top performers at the meet included Arthur Bertrand (1st place - 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke), Dylan Dela Cruz (1st place - 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke), and Rachel Valentine (1st place -100 breaststroke, 2nd place - 200 breaststroke).

Next Time in the Pool
  • The Peacocks close out the 2018-19 season on the road with two meets next weekend.
  • On Friday, January 25 the Peacocks visit Seton Hall at 3 p.m. and on Saturday, January 26 the team visits Siena at 2 p.m.

Best start under Kretzer
  • The men's team has won its first seven meets, posting the best ever start under third year head coach Mark Kretzer.
  • The squad has victories over NJIT (118-115), Mount Saint Mary's (155-58), MAAC foe Manhattan (140.50-92.50), St. Francis Brooklyn (190-65), Pace (139-75), Fairfield (153-127) of the MAAC, and Lafayette (165-100) to start the 2018-19 season.
International Scene  
  • The men's swimming sophomore duo of Jhonny Perez and Troy Pina competed in the 14th Fédération Internationale De Natation (FINA) World Swimming Championships back on December 11-16.
  • Perez represented the Dominican Republic, while Pina represented Cape Verde.
Déjà vu
  • For the second consecutive season, the men's swimming and diving team started the season 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the MAAC.

Dominance in the Pool
  • The men's team has outscored its first seven opponents by 428 combined points and won by an average of 61.1 points per meet.
