Baseball Releases 2019 Slate

The baseball team will play in 51 total games this season

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Saint Peter's baseball head coach Danny Ramirez has announced the 2019 schedule for the Peacocks, which will feature 51 games. The Peacocks' schedule is highlighted by 16 home contests at Jaroschak Field this year.
 
Saint Peter's will open up the 2019 slate in Washington, DC at George Washington University. The Peacocks and Colonials will play a three-game series from February 22-24.
 
For the second straight year, Saint Peter's and a host of northern schools will meet in Kissimmee, Florida for the Russmatt Central Florida Invitational, a neutral site non-conference tournament, from March 1-6. The Peacocks will take on Butler on March 1, followed by meetings with Pitt and Hofstra on March 2. The Peacocks close out the trip in Florida on March 5 and 6 with two games against Central Michigan on each day.
 
The baseball team will play nine of their next 10 games as true road contests from March 12-27. Following the Florida trip, the Peacocks head to La Salle for a single meeting on March 12. Next, the Peacocks travel to Central Connecticut State, for a three-game series from March 16-17. Saint Peter's home opener will come on March 19 when Albany visits Jersey City. The road stretch continues one day later, when the squad travels to Staten Island, NY for a single game with Wagner. The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) season begins for Saint Peter's when the team plays a road series against Quinnipiac from March 23-24. From Connecticut, the unit will travel to Pennsylvania for a lone matchup with Lehigh on March 27.  
 
The baseball team then plays 11 out of their next 12 games in Jersey City at Jaroschak Field. The Peacocks welcome hOURglass Rival Monmouth on March 30 and 31 for a conference series, before one road game at St. John's on April 2. The next eight games will all be held at Jaroschak Field starting with the other hOURglass Rival team Rider on April 6-7. Then, NJIT makes the short trip from Newark for one game on April 9. From April 13-14, the Peacocks will host Fairfield in a three-game MAAC series, before Wager comes to Jersey City to close out the non-conference home-home series on April 16.
 
Saint Peter's heads back to the trails when the team visits Canisius on April 19 and 20. Next, the Peacocks face La Salle again in Philadelphia on April 23, before returning home to host Fordham on April 24.
 
The Peacocks will play New Jersey teams for the next handful of games. On April 27 and 28, the team will play in a home-home four game series with Fairleigh Dickinson. On the 27th the teams will meet at FDU for two games and on the 28th the teams will meet at Saint Peter's for two games. On April 30, the Peacocks visit local foe Seton Hall in South Orange for one game.
 
The final month of the season begins with a home date against Lehigh on May 1. Then from May 4-5, the Peacocks face Marist in Poughkeepsie, NY. The team returns to Jersey City for the final non-conference game of the season against NJIT on May 7.
 
The Peacocks close out the season with a MAAC road series at Manhattan on May 11 and 12 and return home for the season-finale series against Iona on May 16 and 17.
 
The top six teams in the league will advance to the 2019 MAAC Baseball Championship on Memorial Weekend. The tournament will be played at Richmond County Bank Ballpark in Staten Island, NY from May 22-25.
 
"We are very excited to get going this year. We brought in a bunch of eager, young men who have been working extremely hard in the offseason and are very excited to show what they can do at this level," said Ramirez. "They will be tested immediately with early games against George Washington University. We then head to Florida where we will meet up with Butler, Hofstra, Pitt & Central Michigan. Those games will go a long way in preparing us for the start of our conference season."
