Opening Tip
  • The Saint Peter's men's basketball team will travel north to the state of Rhode Island, for a meeting with Big East foe, Providence College.
  • The game will be played at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. and will air nationally on FS2.
  • This will be the first road trip for the squad in the young season.
  • Saint Peter's dropped the season opener to Bryant on Wednesday night, falling to the Bulldogs 44-69 at home. 
  • Senior leader, Quinn Taylor scored a team-high 14 points in the first contest of the year.
 
Things to Know Before the Contest
History with the Friars
  • Saint Peter's has faced Providence four times previously, holding a 1-3 all-time record against the Friars since the first meeting during the 1948-49 season.
  • The Peacocks lone win in the series came in the first ever meeting by way of a 70-60 Saint Peter's win in Jersey City on Jan. 25, 1949.  
 
Road Woes in the Ocean State
  • Saturday's visit to the Ocean State will be the seventh trip to Rhode Island for Saint Peter's in the program's history. 
  • The Peacocks have never won in the state, currently having a combined road record of 0-6 against the four Division I Rhode Island schools (Brown 0-1, Bryant 0-1, Providence 0-2, and Rhode Island 0-2).
  • Contrarily, Saint Peter's is a perfect 3-0 at home against the state's institutions (Brown 1-0, Providence 1-0, and Rhode Island 1-0).
Underclassmen Playing Key Minutes
  • Of the 11 Peacocks to see playing time in the season opener, eight of them were underclassmen, with three earning starting nods.
  • The underclassmen played in 67.5 percent of Saint Peter's minutes in the season opener. 
 
Next Up
  • The men will return home next week with Wagner coming across the Bayonne Bridge to visit Jersey City.
  • The home game will be played midweek on Wednesday, Nov. 20 with a 7 p.m. tip on ESPN+.
