Peacocks' ESPN Production Van Makes Debut

JERSEY CITY, NJ - With basketball season in full swing, the athletics department has had the opportunity to utilize its brand-new mobile broadcast production unit to stream home games on the ESPN family of networks.

Housed inside a custom-built and school-branded Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van to allow broadcast capabilities at local and remote venues that meet ESPN-quality standards, the newest addition to the Peacocks Digital Network has already been utilized to produce the first two men's basketball contests of the 2019-20 regular season inside the Yanitelli Center, as well as the semifinal and championship rounds of the 2019 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship at Jaroschak Field. All men's and women's basketball home games will be streamed on ESPN3 or ESPN+ during the 2019-20 season.

In order to produce an ESPN-quality broadcast, the athletic department will be relying on the helping hand of Saint Peter's University students to staff a variety of positions ranging from camera operators, audio engineers, graphics assistants and more. With the addition of the production van on campus, Saint Peter's University can now provide students hands-on experience in assisting with school-produced, ESPN-quality broadcasts in an NCAA Division I athletic department either as a student employment position or as an on-campus internship. That production experience also provides and enhances key operational skills needed for a broad number of game-day positions in the sports industry, both in the collegiate field and/or the professional ranks.
