Track & Field Concludes Season-Opening Weekend at FDU Knights Classic Sunday

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's University track and field teams concluded their busy opening weekend of the indoor season at the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights Classic on Sunday at the Rothman Center. The Peacocks were one of six teams to compete at the event and several members from both teams continued a strong start to the winter season.

Top Performances

• Freshman Vernetta Gosier won her first collegiate race in the 55-meter hurdles at 8.88 seconds.
• Freshman Loretta Owoh placed in the top-five in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.50 seconds.
• Freshman Tola Osipitan was the runner-up in the 500-meter run, as she clocked in at 1:22.66.
• Junior Grace Proctor ran to a top-three finish in the mile run, crossing the line in 6:02.70.
• Freshman Nathalie Medina conquered the high jump in second place, as she cleared 1.45m.
• The trio of freshmen Xiomari Battle, Aniyah Carmon and Kailah Turner combined to take spots 2-4 in the shot put competition. Battle threw for 11.45m, Carmon for 10.78m and Turner for 10.73m.
• Senior Brandon Campbell finished in the top-five in the 55-meter dash in a field consisting of over 20 competitors.
• Freshman Matthew Defilippis was a top-five finisher in the shot put as he threw for 12.71m.

After a two-meet opening weekend, Saint Peter's will return to action in just over a month when the Peacocks compete in the Great Dane Invitational on Jan. 11 at Ocean Breeze.
