Opening Pitch:

• The Saint Peter's softball team will stay in Greensboro, NC for the Spartan Classic hosted by UNC Greensboro.  
• The Peacocks will play in four total games, with doubleheaders on both Friday and Saturday. 
• On Friday, March 8 the Peacocks face Sacred Heart at 11 a.m. followed by UNC Greensboro at 4 p.m.
• On Saturday, the Peacocks will play University of Delaware at 2:30 p.m. then Towson at 5 p.m. to conclude the trip at the Spartan Classic. 
• The team enters the classic with a 1-5 record, earning their first win of the season on Sunday, March 3, beating Delaware State 6-5 at the Pirate Invitational in Hampton, VA.
• Alina Guevara (1), Alyssa Mido (2), Katie Sciglimpaglia (2) and Alyssa Mido (1) each recorded RBIs in the win.

Scout on Sacred Heart:

• Sacred Heart currently sits at 4-5 on the season.
• The Pioneers earned their last win against Saint Peter's MAAC partner, Quinnipiac winning 8-0. 
• The Peacocks are currently winless against Sacred Heart, having an 0-5 all-time record against the Pioneers. 
• The last time the Peacocks played Sacred Heart was March 18, 2018, losing 5-1. 

Scout on UNC Greensboro:

• UNC Greensboro is currently 9-8 this season. 
• UNC last played in the Carolina Classic, going 1-2 in the tournament.
• The Spartan's earned their only win in the tournament against MAAC member Fairfield, winning 9-1. 
• The Peacocks have an all-time record of 0-2 against UNC Greensboro.
• The last time the Peacocks played them was on February 20, 1994, losing both games in a doubleheader. 

Scout on University of Delaware:

• The University of Delaware Blue Hens are 6-8 this year.
• The Blue Hens played in the Cavalier Classic their last time out, going 1-1. 
• The team beat Buffalo 7-1 for their only win in the tournament. 
• The Peacocks have an all-time record of 3-8 against University of Delaware. 
• The last time the Peacocks defeated the Blue Hens was on April 24, 2013, winning 6-3. 

Scout on Towson:

• Towson sits at 4-4 this season. 
• The Tigers last played on February 16, beating Presbyterian 9-1.  
• The Peacocks have an all-time record of 2-3 against the Tigers.
• The last time the Peacocks beat Towson was on March 21, 1997, winning 11-2. 

Welcome Back

• The Saint Peter's softball team will return 12 players this season, including five seniors. 
• The five seniors are Harley Connors, Sydney Ramsey, Barbara Verrastro, Tiffani Lambert, Schieler Collins.
• The four juniors are Georgia Verrastro, Alina Guevara, Theamaris Ramirez, Taylor White.
• Three sophomores are Alyssa Adams, Natasha Solano, Taylor Lewis.

New Additions

• The Peacocks welcome five new players: 
• Katie Sciglimpaglia (Norwalk, CT), Marissa Morales (Wolcott, CT),  Alyssa Mido (Edison, NJ), Anja Solveig Kane (Manchester Twp, NJ) and Sydney Senerchia (Northford, CT). 

MAAC Preseason Poll

• The Saint Peter's softball team was picked 11th in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Meet the Heach Coach

• Chris Stelma will begin his third season at the helm of the Saint Peter's Softball team. Last season, 2018, the team went 7-41. 
• They earned their first win of the season against Rider at the Coppin State Eagle Classic in Maryland.
• In Stelma's first season (2017), the team recorded 115 runs with six wins, including four conference wins. 
• The Peacocks earned a series sweep for the first time in three years when they swept Rider in the final two games of the season, and improved their batting average from .199 in 2016 to .247 in 2017.
• Before Saint Peter's, Stelma served as an assistant coach at Division III, William Paterson University in New Jersey during the 2016 season. 
• Prior to joining William Paterson, he was the owner of Fielder's Choice Baseball/Kaboom Softball in Andover, where he coordinated training, league play, tournaments and facilities, and served as the head coach of the U18 Showcase baseball and softball teams. Stelma was the baseball head coach at his alma mater, County College of Morris, during the fall of 2007.
• Stelma earned a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Rhode Island in 2006. 
• While at URI, Stelma was a member of the baseball team where he played two seasons at shortstop for the Rams, making 31 starts and appearing in over 40 games. 
• Prior to transferring to URI, Stelma began his collegiate career at County College of Morris where he played for current Saint Peter's assistant coach Ed Moskal in 2003. 
• He was named All-Region and All-Garden State Conference at County College of Morris and ranked in the top 15 among JUCO hitters in 2003.
