Men’s and Women’s Basketball Spend Offseason Volunteering in the Community

JERSEY CITY, NJ - Members of the men's and women's basketball teams have been busy with community service projects in the offseason.

On Saturday, April 27th the men's and women's basketball teams volunteered at the Walk for Team Walker event in Jersey City. Team Walker is a foundation that offers youth academic and athletic programs as well as community outreach programs for families and seniors of Jersey City. The teams helped with set up and were the cheer section along the route. Saint Peter's Athletics was awarded the Team Walker Team Spirit Award at the conclusion of the event.

On Saturday, May 4th, members of the men's basketball team spent their morning volunteering at the 5th annual Darren "Reese" Talington Classic.  The team assisted in a free youth basketball clinic in the morning and then spent the rest of the morning tabling and handing out freebies to the crowd.

The women's basketball team went to Irvington High school on May 4th to help create a living space. The team painted, cleaned and helped with light landscaping and gardening on a school property for special needs students to help prepare them to live on their own once they graduate high school.

Saint Peter's Athletics takes pride in representing the Jersey City community on and off the field. Peacocks in the Community allows our student-athletes to give back to the surrounding area by volunteering their services throughout the year.
