EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) today announced the 2019-20 men's basketball conference schedule.
The Saint Peter's University men's basketball program's league ledger commences with four alternating home and away games. The slate begins on Friday, Jan. 3 at four-time defending MAAC Champion, Iona.
The Peacocks' MAAC home opener falls two days later on Sunday, Jan. 5, when the team welcomes Marist to the Yanitelli Center. The following Thursday (Jan. 9), the team goes back on the road to face Siena before returning to Jersey City three days later (Sunday, Jan. 12) to host Canisius.
The following week will see Saint Peter's open up a three-game road trip beginning with a midweek battle at Fairfield on Wednesday, Jan. 15, followed by a trip to Quinnipiac on Saturday, Jan. 18. The road tour concludes back in the Garden State at hOURglass rival Rider on Friday, Jan. 24.
After enduring the longest stretch away from Jersey City as part of the conference schedule, the Peacocks will enjoy a season-long four-game homestand, with all four contests coming within a one-week span. The marathon session begins on Sunday, Jan. 26, against Niagara followed by a visit from another hOURglass rival in Monmouth (Jan. 29); a matchup with Manhattan will round out the month of January before Siena visits Jersey City on Feb. 2.
Saint Peter's begins the last half of the league docket with two straight road games at Marist (Feb. 7) and Monmouth (Feb. 9) before playing three of its next four home games back at the Yanitelli Center, beginning with a Valentine's Day showdown with Quinnipiac. The Peacocks take on Fairfield two days later (Feb. 16) before a trip across the Hudson River to meet Manhattan on Friday, Feb. 21; the team then heads home for a Sunday, Feb. 23 tip-off against Rider for the final hOURglass rivalry game of the season.
The final road trip of the 2019-20 league ledger sends the Peacocks to Western New York for contests at Niagara (Thursday, Feb. 27) and Canisius (Saturday, Feb. 29). The MAAC regular season schedule concludes at home for Saint Peter's when the team tangles with Iona on Friday, March 6.
For the first time in conference history, the Peacocks will be traveling to historic Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey for the 2020 MAAC Men's Basketball Championship. The MAAC Championship will be held from March 10 through 14. The non-conference schedule and tip times for all games will be announced at a later date.
