Track & Field Competes at Great Dane Invitational to Open 2020 Portion of Indoor Calendar

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Saint Peter's University track & field teams returned to action with their first meet of the 2020 calendar year, as the Peacocks competed at the Great Dane Classic hosted by the University at Albany at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

Top Performances

• Competing in just the third meet of the young indoor season, several Peacocks enjoyed strong performances at Saturday's invitational, which was the first meet for the team in over a month.
• Freshman Clardo Nestor was the runner-up in the men's 1,000-meter run, clocking in at 2:37.58 to earn a spot on the podium.
• Freshman Jarrett Gentles finished in the top-10 in the men's 400-meter dash, finishing in 50.66 seconds for another stellar showing.
• Sophomore Daniel Jn-Baptiste came in the top-30 in a field of over 70 competitors in the men's 200-meter dash. He crossed the line in 22.81.
• Freshman Vernetta Gosier captured a top-20 placement in the women's 60-meter dash qualifying race with a time of 8.11 seconds.
• Senior Avosuahi Albert, freshman Vernetta Gosier and senior Ohunene Albert all finished within the top-25 in the women's 200-meter dash in a field of over 70 competitors. Avosuahi Albert finished in 25.65 seconds, Gosier at 25.88 seconds and Ohunene Albert at 26.04 seconds.
