Lou Proietti and the Saint Peter's University baseball team have announced the team's 2020 schedule. The Peacocks' 50-game slate includes 17 home games at Jaroschak Field and road trips to seven different states during the non-conference ledger.
The non-conference portion of the schedule features trips to Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania and South Carolina.
"We are very excited about our 2020 schedule and the opportunities that are in front of us," said Proietti. "We have some very difficult non-conference opponents that will help prepare us for conference play. I look forward to watching our guys compete and work together towards our goal of winning a MAAC Championship."
The 2020 campaign will begin for the Peacocks with a trip to Georgia for three games against three different Peach State natives from Feb. 14-16. The three-game Georgia trip will begin in Atlanta against Georgia Tech on Feb. 14, followed by a trip to Kennesaw for a meeting with Kennesaw State and concludes back in Atlanta on Feb. 16 for a game at Georgia State.
The squad returns to New Jersey for a single game at local NEC rival Fairleigh Dickinson (FDU) on Feb. 19 before heading to Kentucky for a three-game set with Murray State (Feb. 21-23). From there, the Peacocks will head to South Carolina for three contests with The Citadel to round out February and open March.
Saint Peter's will be back in the tri-state for the next five games. First, the Peacocks visit Rutgers in Piscataway on March 4. Then, the team crosses the Hudson for a three-game series with LIU from Mar. 6-8 in Brookville. Finally, the program battles St. John's in Queens on March 10.
The next road trip will send Saint Peter's to Dover, Delaware, from March 13-15 for a three-game series at Delaware State. The team will proceed further south to Hanover, Maryland, to battle with Coppin State on March 18 before returning home to open the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) slate with a series at hOURglass Rival Monmouth March 21-22.
After a quick trip to Lehigh on March 24, Jaroschak Field will enjoy its first action of the season when Quinnipiac comes to town for a conference series on March 28-29 to close out the month, followed by an out-of-conference home game with Albany on April 1.
The Peacocks will return to league play with a road trip at Niagara (April 4-5) before opening up a nine-game stretch in New Jersey. Eight of those nine games will be played in Jersey City starting with a bout against Lehigh on April 8. Next, the team welcomes Siena for a weekend series (April 11-12) before the lone road game of that stretch sends the Peacocks back to Fairleigh Dickinson on April 15. The squad resumes league action with Canisius visiting from April 18-19, then concludes the nine-game homestand when Coppin State visits Jaroschak Field on April 22 for a return meeting.
A series in Connecticut with Fairfield on April 25-26 resumes MAAC play for the Peacocks before a road game on April 28 at Wagner on Staten Island. The month of April concludes with the third and final meeting with Fairleigh Dickinson a day later at Jaroschak Field.
Turning to the final month of the regular season, Saint Peter's will play in its last MAAC road series on May 2-3 at Iona. The team returns home when they host Wagner on May 5 and closes out the regular season slate with Marist on May 14-15.
