EDISON, NJ - Redshirt sophomore
Clardo Nestor of the Saint Peter's University men's cross country and track & field program has been named one of this week's Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week, as announced by the league office today.
Nestor was a regular in the cross country/distance circuits in 2019-20. Last fall, he was the top finisher in three of the four events the team competed in highlighted by a top-30 finish at the NJIT Highlander Invite (26:49.2). He went on to post a sub-30-minute 8K time at the MAAC Championships before moving to the indoor track & field season where he starred in mid-distance and sprint relay events.
Nestor was the runner-up in the 1000-meter race at the Great Dane Classic and placed in the top-five of the same event at the Yale Opener before helping the Saint Peter's 4x400-meter relay team finish as the runner-up at the MAAC Indoor Championships. That same relay team placed in the top-three at the Millrose Games and qualified for the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Boston.
Nestor and the rest of the Peacocks are hoping for a return to action at some point in the 2020-21 academic year both on the track and cross country circuits.
