EDISON, NJ - Saint Peter's men's basketball freshman guard
Aaron Estrada, has earned his second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pepsi Zero Rookie of the Week honor of the season, announced by the league office today. The weekly award improves the Peacocks' 2019-20 total to seven.
Aaron Estrada led first-place Saint Peter's in scoring and assists during a 2-0 week. Estrada averaged team-highs of 17.0 points per game and 2.5 assists per game. Against Quinnipiac on Friday, he scored 14 points and picked up two assists. On Sunday, Estrada recorded a career-high 20 points, while handing out three assists versus Fairfield. Additionally, he made 55.6 percent of his three-pointers and added four rebounds and one steal on the week.
The accolade gives Estrada two 2019-20 MAAC Pepsi Zero Rookie of the Week honors, joining classmates
Fousseyni Drame and
Hassan Drame as two-time winners of the award. Estrada's backcourt running mate,
Daryl Banks III also picked up a rookie of the week award, bringing Saint Peter's weekly award total to seven on the season. The seven MAAC rookie honors are a league-best, and the team's seven total weekly awards are tied for the conference lead with Canisius.
Estrada and the first-place Peacocks are back on the hardwood Friday night (Feb. 21), visiting Manhattan.
