February Letter from Our Athletic Director

Dear Friend of Saint Peter's Athletics,

It is an exciting time of year as we near the end of the MAAC regular season schedule for our men's and women's basketball teams!  Both teams continue to fight until the final minutes of every game as we near the MAAC Tournament in Atlantic City, NJ.  There are still some opportunities to catch each team in action at The Rev. Victor R. Yanitelli, S.J., Recreational Life Center, with two more home games for the men and three more for the women.  Come on out to support your Peacocks and let's ensure a home court advantage for the final stretch!

The men's & women's swimming and diving teams just returned from the MAAC Championships in Buffalo, NY. The Peacocks earned a collective 11 medals throughout the Championships, and freshman Luke Cillie set a new team record in the 200 yard IM. Congratulations to all on a successful season and championship!

Also this month, the men's and women's track & field teams will compete at the MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 22-23 at the Armory in New York City.  And, while our winter sports teams are winding down, we are excited to gear up for our spring sports. Believe it or not, the baseball season is underway! Thanks to everyone who celebrated the start of the season with our coaches and student-athletes at our First Pitch Luncheon last week. The team just returned from a three game road trip in Georgia and will take trips to Kentucky and South Carolina as well as part of their non-conference schedule.

Later this month, softball heads out west to California to compete in the Gaucho Classic hosted by UC Santa Barbara, and the golf and outdoor track & field seasons will commence in March.  We are looking forward to a great spring season for all of our Peacock teams and of course, some much needed warmer weather!

Lastly, the Saint Peter's Athletic Hall of Fame Luncheon will take place this Sunday, February 23 in the Duncan Family Sky Room in the Mac Mahon Student Center.  Please join us as we celebrate this impressive Hall of Fame class – Johnell Burts (Women's Basketball, Class of 2008), Isaiah Harris (Men's Track, Class of 2014), and Shawn Poling (Football, Class of 2005), The 2007-08 Men's Soccer team, and Theodore "Ted" Kwiatkowski, D.M.D. (Honorary, Class of 1970) and Theresa "Terry" Kwiatkowski (Honorary, Class of 1972).  Registration is still available here. Hope to see you there!

Go Peacocks!
