JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Despite the uncertainties presented by the coronavirus, COVID-19 pandemic, Saint Peter's University student-athletes still managed to put together one of their most impressive performances in the classroom in recent memory last semester as part of a remarkable fall semester in terms of academic performance.
Nearly 200 student-athletes – 172 to be precise – boasted grade-point averages of 3.0 and higher during the fall slate. Additionally, 85 student-athletes saw their GPAs slotted in the 3.5-3.99 range, and going even further, 26 of those student-athletes were flawless with perfect 4.0 GPAs.
Cumulatively, Peacock student-athletes combined to post a department-wide GPA of 3.3 to round out an outstanding first half of the academic year.
The women's volleyball team topped all varsity programs with a department-best 3.79 GPA in the fall, as four of its student-athletes had 4.0s – tied with the women's swimming team for most 4.0 student-athletes on a single team. Four squads – women's basketball, men's soccer, softball and men's swimming & diving – had three student-athletes post 4.0 GPAs, while 12 programs posted team-wide GPAs of 3.0 or higher in the fall semester, upping the current department-wide cumulative GPA to 3.325 in the process.
