JERSEY CITY, NJ - A men's swimmer and a women's basketball player have been named Saint Peter's University Athletics Peacocks of the Month for November, as fifth-year Oleksiy Polishchuk and graduate Wildalys Soto have earned the third monthly Peacock award for the 2021-2022 academic year.
Polishchuk had a great month for the Peacocks swimming and diving team. In the first meet against St. Francis Brooklyn and Manhattan, he won the 100 yard breaststroke (58.19) and was a part of the men's 200 yard freestyle medley team that took first. In the second meet against Manhattan, Polishchuk won three events, including the 100-yard backstroke (55.48), 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.56) and the 50-yard butterfly (25.10).
Soto finished the season on a tear for the Peacocks, recording 125 assists over the course of their four November games. In the season finale against Canisius, she eclipsed 2,000 career assists, becoming only the fourth Peacock in history to achieve that feat. The graduate setter also totalled 53 digs in the month of November. Hailing from Patillas, Puerto Rico, Soto leaves as one of the all-time greats in Saint Peter's women's volleyball history.
