NEW YORK - The Saint Peter's University track & field teams were in action for their first meet of the season on Saturday at the TCNJ Winter Open. The Peacocks' day proved successful, as four student-athletes, Vernetta Gosier, Lorretta Owoh, Michael Conover, and Michael Ilesanmi, earned first place finishes in their respective events.
Top Performances: Men

Junior Michael Conover was the first winner of the day on the men's side, capturing victory in the 1000 with a time of 2:34.21. This now stands as his collegiate best time in this event.

Redshirt sophomore Michael Ilesanmi captured the second victory of the day for the men, this time in the men's triple jump with a distance of 13.51m.

Sophomore Bayyan Dallas earned a top-three finish in the men's 400 meter dash with a time of 53.93, good for third place.

The team of Clardo Nestor, Hensley Jean Baptiste, Bayyan Dallas, and Isaiah Sanchez secured a top three finish in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:24.19, earning third place on the leaderboard.

Junior Dylan Powell ended the day strong for the Peacocks, earning a third place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 16.35m.

Junior Vernetta Gosier secured her first place finish in the 60 with a time of 7.83, just seconds off her personal best in only the first meet of the season.

Redshirt junior Lorretta Owoh joined Gosier in the winner's circle, earning a first place finish in the long jump, with a distance of 5.54m.

Freshman Diamond McLaughlin was a strong finisher for the women, placing second in the 600m with a time of 1:41.49.

The team of Jasmine Pope, Diamond McLaughlin, Alexus Smith, and Kaylah Davis finished with a time of 4:14;98 in the 4x400 relay, which was good enough for third place on the leaderboard.

Senior Iria Paz and Junior Janai Orders claimed second and third place, respectively, in the triple jump, with distances of 10.29m and 10.28m.
