Opening Word:
- The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team will travel to Western New York this weekend for a pair of contests at Niagara for its penultimate road series of 2020-21.
- This weekend's games are scheduled for Feb. 20-21 with each contest beginning at 5 p.m.
- During their last time out, Saint Peter's split its home series against hOURglass rival Monmouth on Feb. 13-14, securing the 70-60 win in the first tilt but ultimately dropping the rematch 63-57.
- Redshirt -senior Kendrea Williams was lights out against the Hawks, averaging 21.5 points to lead all scorers while shooting 50 percent from the floor over the two games.
Past Series with the Purple Eagles:
- The Peacocks hold a healthy margin over the Purple Eagles in the all-time series between the two sides, as Saint Peter's enters this weekend with an overall record of 45-29 over Niagara.
- Recently, however, the Peacocks have struggled against their foes from Western New York, having won one game in their last 10 exchanges.
- The Purple Eagles swept the Peacocks in the regular season last year and defeated Saint Peter's 64-53 in the first round of the 2019-20 MAAC Basketball Championships.
- The last Saint Peter's victory over Niagara came in Jersey City on Dec. 30, 2016, when the Peacocks secured a 78-66 win.
- The Peacocks are seeking their first win on the road against the Purple Eagles since their 59-54 triumph on Jan. 2, 2011.
Roaring 20's:
- Williams has been on a tear over the past two weeks for Saint Peter's, posting 20+ points scored in each of the Peacocks' last four games.
- The Piscataway native scored 20 points against both Manhattan (Feb. 6) and Fairfield (Feb. 8) while shooting 57.1 percent and 53.8 percent in the games, respectively.
- Then, in the Peacocks' series-opening win over Monmouth on Feb. 13, the redshirt-senior notched her third straight 20-point performance while shooting an incredible 61.5 percent from the field, finishing 8-for-13 and 2-for-5 from deep range.
- Williams then finished with a season-high 23 points against the Hawks on Feb. 14 while capitalizing on her trips to the line, knocking down 8-of-10 free throws on the night.
- Williams now has five 20+ point outings on the year and has tallied 27 such performances throughout her collegiate career.
