Ajia James has been named this week's Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office this afternoon. The honor marks the freshman's third weekly award of this season and the second time that James has been recognized as Rookie of the Week.
James kept her hot streak going as the rookie recorded another pair of double-doubles this weekend, this time helping lift Saint Peter's to a series sweep over visiting Siena from Feb. 26-27. In the initial matchup, James finished with 10 points on 55.6 percent shooting while pulling down a team-leading 13 rebounds to aid in the team's 66-58 victory. James only improved when it came to the rematch, scoring a team-leading 17 points while matching her 13 rebounds from the previous night and shooting 61.5 percent from the field. James has now recorded four consecutive double-double performances and holds five on the season.
James and the Peacocks return to action this week as the team travels north to Poughkeepsie for their final regular season series at Marist from March 4-5.
