JERSEY CITY, NJ - Saint Peter's men's basketball standout, forward
KC Ndefo, has been named to the 2020-21 Lefty Driesell Defensive All-American Team and as a finalist for the Lefty Driesell National Defensive Player of the Year award. Ndefo, who was recently named as the unanimous MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, is one of 30 players named to the team.
A two-time MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, Ndefo joins former Saint Peter's guard Chazz Patterson '17 as the program's only other defensive All-American. The 6-foot-7 junior leads the Peacocks in blocks and steals, averaging 3.6 blocks per game and 1.4 steals per outing. Ndefo ranked top-10 in the MAAC in both categories in back-to-back years, finishing the regular season first in blocks and seventh in steals. His blocks per game average and total blocks both lead the NCAA.
Ndefo has etched his name in Saint Peter's history this campaign, setting numerous program records. He tied Saint Peter's single-game blocked shots record with seven blocks (Jan. 23 at Siena). He became the program's single-season blocked shot record holder (86 and counting). He became just the second Peacock in school history to reach 200 career blocks. He is the only player in program history to record over 100 career blocks and 100 career steals. In the quarterfinal round of the MAAC Championship, Ndefo tied the school's all-time record in career blocks, recording his 209th blocked shot.
The recipient of the 2021 award will be announced on April 1.
