Jersey City, N.J. - The Saint Peter's University men's and women's track and field programs opened their first outdoor season in nearly two years on Saturday afternoon at the Charles E. Davis Relays at Lincoln Park in Jersey City. The Peacocks took on an array of competition from across the northeast and put together several strong performances, including three first-place finishes on the men's side and one finals victory for the women.
Top Performances: Men
- The quartet that has solidified the 4x400 meter relay event for the Peacocks was at it again today. Sophomores Jayaire King, Isaiah Sanchez, Clardo Nestor and Jarrett Gentles came out on top in 3:30.13.
- King also led the charge for the Peacocks in the 400 hurdles relay with the top individual time of the day at 54.77 seconds.
- Freshmen Judeson Mirac and Delano Gooden, along with sophomore Kyle Estivene and graduate student Brandon Campbell, won the 4x100 meter relays with a combined time of 43.08 seconds.
- In the men's long jump, sophomore Jabari Higgs-Salaam once again came out with the win, jumping for a distance of 6.91 meters. Freshman Jacquel Jupiter also had a strong showing in the event as he finished third overall with a distance of 6.30 meters.
- Higgs-Salaam also came in the top-three in the triple jump with a distance of 13.72 meters. Right behind him was freshman teammate Michael Ilesanmi, jumping for 13.62 meters.
