NEW YORK - The Saint Peter's University track & field teams were back at Icahn Stadium on Friday afternoon for the St. John's Invitational. The Peacocks took on a competitive field which included programs such as New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Adelphi, and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rival Manhattan. In the end, several Peacocks on both sides came away with solid performances.
Top Performances: Men
- Sophomore Jarrett Gentles was runner-up in the 400 hurdles with a time of 55.76 seconds.
- Gentles also teamed up with freshman Delano Gooden, and sophomores Jayaire King and Michael Conover, to take second in the 4x400 meter relay event. The quartet clocked in at 3:21.13, which breaks the team mark for the event this season. The time is also third-best in the MAAC.
- Sophomore Clardo Nestor took a top-five placement and set a personal best for himself in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.01 seconds.
- Redshirt freshman thrower Ibrahim Seidou-Bakari took part in the hammer throw competition and beat his previous mark by throwing for 46.80 meters. This mark currently puts him sixth in the MAAC.
- Freshman Cory Louis-Jean made his collegiate debut by competing in the pole vault and cleared 3.05 meters.
Top Performances: Women
- Sophomore Vernetta Gosier made her first appearance in the 100 meter dash and took a top-five placement by crossing the finish line in 12.45 seconds.
- Freshman Abigail Vital competed in the 400 hurdles for the first time and earned a top-five finish in 1:09.59.
- Freshman Reyanna Henderson set a PR for herself in the 200 meter dash by coming in at 27.64 seconds.
