Team Efforts Highlight Day 2 of Jersey Relays for Peacocks

JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The regular season concluded for the Saint Peter's University track & field teams on Day 2 of the Jersey Relays at Lincoln Park on Friday afternoon. Both sides competed in several relay events as they looked to build momentum heading into championship season. 

The men's team fought tooth and nail in exciting races against a highly competitive field and the women's team added several more victories on the day.

Top Performances: Men

• Freshman Devon Bembridge joined forces with the sophomore trio of David Szaro, Clardo Nestor and Michael Conover, to take runner-up in the 4x800 meter relays. The four clocked in at 8:09.16. 
• Later on, Bembridge and Nestor teamed with fellow freshman Delano Gooden and sophomore Rayshawn Johnson, to compete in the last race of the day, the 4x400 relay. In a thrilling battle that came down to the wire, Bembridge just staved off Bloomfield's anchor to come in the top-three at 3:26.18. 

Top Performances: Women

• The team of freshmen Reyanna Henderson and Abigail Vital, and sophomores Tola Osipitan and Kaylah Davis, took the 4x400 meter relay challenge in 4:12.36.
• Sophomores Vernetta Gosier and Lorretta Owoh again went 1-2 in the 100 meter dash. In the finals, Gosier again came through with the win in 12.55 seconds while Owoh was runner-up in 12.82.
• Owoh also competed in the triple jump and came out on top with a distance of 11.25 meters, tying her personal best.
• Junior Iria Paz also took part in the triple jump and set a new PR for herself by jumping for 10.28 meters. Her mark earned her a top-five placement and is also now among the top-10 distances in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).

Up Next
The Peacocks enter championship season and look ahead to the MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships from May 8-9. The meet will be held at the Michael P. Brady Complex at Rider University.
