January Letter from Our Athletic Director

Dear Friends of Saint Peter's University Athletics,

Happy New Year! I hope you are continuing to stay safe and, like all of us in Peacock Nation, you are looking forward to a healthy and prosperous 2022!

I am happy to report that once again that our student-athletes continue to thrive in the classroom after a remarkable fall semester. Our term GPA across our 16 varsity programs was an impressive 3.26! We saw 167 student-athletes finish the semester with a 3.0 GPA or better, and 21 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0. In addition, 10 of our programs registered at least a 3.0 average team GPA – truly a remarkable effort all around. We are so proud of the work our student-athletes are putting into the classroom and look forward to continued success in the spring!

Shifting our focus back to the hardwood, we are in the midst of another competitive basketball season! Our women's team started MAAC play with a sweep up in Buffalo last month as they look to keep that momentum rolling into next week with three home games! The men, meanwhile, are home TONIGHT to take on Monmouth and have a busy stretch ahead of them as the league ledger heats up. Altogether, we have eight home games coming up over the next two weeks with plenty of promotions, themes, giveaways, and more, so please be sure to join us at Run Baby Run Arena!

The 2021-22 track & field winter season is also running its course! Last week, three student-athletes finished with several first-place finishes at the West Point Open. The swimming & diving team also gets back in the water later this month with home meets against Wagner and Monmouth on back-to-back days, so please stop by the Yanitelli Center to see them in action for the first time since 2020!

Finally, I'd like to invite you to some events we will be hosting in the weeks ahead. The women's basketball team will host their Alumni Reunion on January 22 ahead of their game against Iona, and the men's Alumni Reunion will be held on February 6 before their matchup against Marist. The Hall of Fame Luncheon, featuring the induction of our Class of 2022 and a reunion later that day during the men's basketball game against Niagara, will be held on Sunday, February 27 at 11 a.m. in the Duncan Family Sky Room in the Mac Mahon Center. Finally: save the date for the 2022 William J. Murray Peacock Athletics Golf Outing, which will be held on Monday, June 13. I would also like to invite you to the 2022 MAAC Basketball Championship, which will be held in Atlantic City from March 8th through the 12th. We can't wait to see you in the near future for all of these exciting events!

Once again, thank you for your continued support of Saint Peter's University Athletics. I look forward to continued success in the year ahead. Stay healthy, stay safe and GO PEACOCKS!

Sincerely,
Rachelle Paul signature
