NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Saint Peter's men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up their two-day 2021-22 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Indoor Championships on Sunday night at The Armory in New York, NY. They were able to walk away with four medals from the weekend, including two silvers and two bronzes.

The keynote of night one for the Peacocks was provided by standout redshirt sophomore Michael Ilesanmi, who was able to capture a silver medal in the Long Jump with a distance of 7.06m.

On Saturday, both Val Augustin and Kyle Estivene punched their ticket to compete in the 60 Meter Hurdles. On Sunday night, Estivene just missed the podium with a fourth place finish of 8.56.

The second qualifier from Saturday night came from the 60 Meter Hurdle on the women's side, where Abigail Vital moved on. On Sunday night, she finished in eighth place with a time of 9.00.

Isaiah Sanchez was the fourth Peacock to qualify for championship Sunday. He competed in the 400 Meter Dash, placing sixth with a time of 50.65.

The Peacocks also qualified for the 400 Meter Dash on the women's side, where Diamond McLaughlin would eventually take the bronze medal in the event on Sunday night. She placed third with a time of 58.20, which now stands as both her collegiate best and the best time for the Saint Peter's women's track and field team in the event this season.

Clardo Nestor continued his stellar season, qualifying for the 800 Meter. He finished in seventh place with a time of 1:55.17.

The last qualifier of the night from Saturday came from the 200 Meter Dash in Quincy Hendy. He went on to capture the Peacocks third medal of the weekend, taking bronze with a time of 22.04. This time now stands as both his collegiate best and the best time for the Saint Peter's men's track and field team in the event this season.

The last medal of the weekend came from the men's 4x400 relay team. The quartet of Delano Gooden, Clardo Nestor, Quincy Hendy, and Michael Conover combined to take the silver medal with a time of 3:17.29. This time now stands as the best time for the Saint Peter's men's track and field team in the event this season.

The Peacocks men's team finished the meet in fifth place with 40 points. The women's team finished in eighth place with 12 points.
Up Next
The Peacocks will finish the indoor portion of the season when those that qualified participate in the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships from March 4th-6th. The event takes place in Boston, MA at the Track and Tennis Center.
