Peacock Relays Earn Season-Bests at MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships Opening Night

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Saint Peter's swimming & diving posted its top times of the 2021-22 slate in a trio of relays on the first day of the MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships.

Six seniors and two juniors helped the Peacocks during an all-team event evening season at the league championships held in the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center at Erie Community College.

Top Performances

• The Peacocks earned their top finish of the night in the men's 800-yard freestyle relay (Luke Cillie, David Dolgitzer, Yann Le Gall, Oleksiy Polishchuk), winning the first heat with a time of 6:44.46 for a sixth-place finish overall.
• The women's 200-yard medley relay team (Natalie Davis, Devyn Hantgin, Noelle Sprenkle, Evangelia Vasilakis) clocked in at 1:52.04, dropping its season-best time by more than four seconds to finish in 10th place. Davis's leadoff backstroke leg of 26.65 was the fourth fastest in the field.
• The men's 200-yard medley relay team (Cillie, Polishchuk, Le Gall, Dolgitzer) won its heat with a season-best time of 1:31.33 – nearly five seconds better than its previous top time – to finish in seventh place.

• Individual swimming events get underway on the second day of the MAAC Championships Thursday. The events include the men's and women's 500-yard freestyle, 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley (IM) and 200-yard freestyle relay. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m., while finals get started at 6 p.m.
