Dear Friends of Saint Peter's University Athletics,
In case you missed it over the weekend… your Peacocks are
DANCING!
Congratulations to our men's basketball program for capturing the 2022 MAAC Basketball Championship in Atlantic City on Saturday! In an all-New Jersey final round, they held off in-state rival Monmouth to take home our fourth MAAC title and first since the 2010-11 season. They will head to Indianapolis to battle second-seeded and perennial national power Kentucky this Thursday in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Championship at 7:10 pm. Be sure to check out SaintPetersPeacocks.com and follow us on social media for all updates regarding the NCAA Tournament and all things Saint Peter's Athletics!
While the men's basketball team has grabbed headlines after their title run, it's been such an amazing month for the Saint Peter's University Athletics Department! We've won championships, fundraised for our student-athletes, inducted new members into our hall of fame, received awards, and much, much more! Congratulations to our women's basketball team on another successful season that concluded in the quarterfinal round of the MAAC Tournament. And as we turn to the home stretch of the academic year, best of luck to the baseball, softball, men's golf, and outdoor track & field teams which have kicked off their seasons in recent weeks (or will very soon)!
Finally, I'd like to say THANK YOU to every single person that donated on Peacock Nation Day. We are thrilled to announce that we received a total of $70,946 from 171 gifts in support of Saint Peter's athletic programs - a new Peacock Nation Day record that more than doubles the amount raised during last year's inaugural campaign! None of this could be done without you so, THANK YOU!
And remember - please be sure to save the date for the 2022 William J. & John Murray Peacock Athletics Golf Outing, which will be held on Monday, June 13. Saint Peter's is proud to add John Murray's name to the golf outing this year in recognition of his immeasurable contributions to Peacock Athletics! We can't wait to see you in the near future for this exciting event!
Once again, thank you for your continued support of Saint Peter's University Athletics. I look forward to sharing even more wonderful stories with you in the weeks ahead. Stay healthy, stay safe and GO PEACOCKS!
Sincerely,
Rachelle Paul
Director of Athletics
