Ndefo Earns Third Consecutive MAAC Defensive Player of the Year Honor

Senior from Elmont, N.Y., becomes third player in MAAC history to earn three DPOTY honors

EDISON, N.J. (March 9, 2022) - For the third consecutive season, senior Saint Peter's University men's basketball student-athlete KC Ndefo proved to be the best defensive player in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference as he was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year once again, the league announced Wednesday.

Ndefo, who was also named the MAAC Sixth Man of the Year in 2019-20, joins Keydren Clark as one of only two SPU men's basketball players to earn at least four major conference awards in a career.

The senior out of Elmont, N.Y., leads the MAAC and is 15th in the NCAA with 2.67 blocked shots per game this season. Also on the defensive end of the floor, Ndefo is sixth in the MAAC with 1.3 steals per contest.

The best shot blocker in program history, Ndefo now has 286 career blocks to his ledger which is the fifth-most among active players in DI. He has anchored a defense that ranks first in the league and 22nd in the country in scoring defense all season.

This season, Ndefo averages 10.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.7 blocks and 1.3 steals per game as he joins Fairfield's Deng Gui (01-02, 02-03 & 04-05) and Manhattan's Rhamel Brown (11-12, 12-13, 13-14) as one of just three players to win Defensive Player of the Year honors three times in a career.
