JERSEY CITY, NJ - A men's basketball player and a softball player have been named Saint Peter's University Athletics Peacocks of the Month for March, as junior Doug Edert and junior Cara McNulty have earned the seventh monthly Peacock award for the 2021-2022 academic year.
Edert was a key part of the men's basketball historic run in the month of March, from winning the MAAC Championship to the team's run to the Elite 8. Edert was named MVP of the MAAC Championship game, as he scored 20 points off of the bench to lead the team. He then dropped another 20 points against Kentucky in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He hit clutch shot after clutch shot to help the Peacocks pull off the upset. Edert then scored 13 points against Murray State in the Round of 32, helping the Peacocks knock off the Racers and advanced Saint Peter's to the Sweet 16. Edert was a key factor on a team that won the first three NCAA Tournament games in school history.
McNulty has been firing at the plate for the Peacock softball team to kick off the season. Batting .365 at the plate, she has recorded 27 hits on the young season. She leads the team in home runs (2), slugging percentage (.527), and RBIs (14). McNulty has been a key part of a team that has won more games than the last two seasons combined. The team has already achieved the most wins in a season since 2007.
