JERSEY CITY, N.J. -
Bashir Mason was formally introduced as the 16th head coach of the Saint Peter's University men's basketball program to the University community on Wednesday afternoon during a press conference inside Run Baby Run Arena.
Saint Peter's University President Dr. Eugene J. Cornacchia and Director of Athletics
Rachelle Paul were on hand to deliver opening remarks before Mason addressed those in attendance, which included the university community, students, fans, alumni, the Board of Trustees and members of the media.
After spending 10 years as head coach at nearby Wagner College, Mason -- a Jersey City native -- was named the program's 16th head coach yesterday. He will take over a team that made shockwaves this March after becoming the first No. 15 seed in NCAA Tournament history to advance to the Elite Eight after winning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament for the first time in over a decade.
