- The Saint Peter's University softball team looks for its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victories Saturday when they take on Quinnipiac in a doubleheader at Quinnipiac Softball Field in Hamden, Conn.
- The Peacocks are looking to end an eight-game losing skid while the Bobcats try to get back in the win column for the first time in four games.
Looking Back at Siena
- Playing in a MAAC contest for the first time this season and competing at home for the first time since March 16, the Peacocks dropped a pair of contests against Siena College, falling in game one 5-0 before losing game two 8-1 last Saturday at Jaroschak Field.
- The Peacocks fell to 11-17 overall and 0-2 in MAAC play while the Saints improved to 13-11 and 2-0 in the league.
- Junior Cara McNulty had the lone hit of the game in the first contest for the Peacocks on an infield single going 1 for 3 in the game.
- Despite being saddled with the loss, junior Taylor Rondon was solid in the circle for SPU in game one tossing a complete game allowing just four earned runs while striking out five.
- Aubrey Ketcham was fantastic in game two for SPU going 3 for 3 with three singles to be the lone Peacock with multiple hits on the day.
- Freshmen Kasidy Slusser and Dakota Pitts both had a single hit in game two combining to go 2 for 6. Slusser also came on in relief in game two in the circle and allowed just one run over the final 3.0 innings of action.
- Junior Brandi Feeney drove in the only run of the day for the Peacocks with an RBI single in the fourth inning of the second contest.
- Kourtney Ketcham also recorded a hit going 1 for 2 in the 8-1 defeat.
Inside the Numbers
- Olyvia Smith is the team-leader in average hitting .347 and has hit safely in 22 of the 29 games she has appeared in this season including a 10-game hit streak earlier this season.
- McNulty has brought the power for SPU, leading the team in RBI, slugging percentage, OPS and homers. She now ranks 10th in the MAAC in slugging percentage this season.
- As a team, the Peacocks have now hit nine homers this season to top their total from the entirety of the 2021 and 2020 seasons.
- SPU will head into the doubleheader Saturday with 11 wins, the most victories since recording 22 in the 2007 season.
- In the circle, freshman Kasidy Slusser leads the team with a 3.55 ERA in her first season in Jersey City.
