NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Saint Peter's University track & field teams returned to action for their third meet of the outdoor season over the course of Friday and Saturday at the Metropolitan Outdoor Track & Field Championships (METS). The Peacocks had a balanced effort from everywhere on the roster that led them to three gold medals and multiple top-10 finishes.
Top Performances: Women
-
The women were able to claim back-to-back first-place finishes in the hurdle events. Abigail Vital was the first to do so, claiming victory in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 14.59, edging out the next closest competitor by .3 seconds. Three hundredths of a second continues to be a theme, as that's how little Vital was off from breaking her collegiate best time.
-
The second victory of the day came courtesy of Diamond McLaughlin, who continues her stellar freshman campaign with a gold medal in the 400 Hurdles. Her time of 1:02.82 was not only good enough for first place, but is also an IC4A/ECAC qualifying mark in the event. She was joined by teammates Alexus Smith (6th, 1:07.31), Mikell Dolo (11th, 1:16.29), and Janai Orders (13th, 1:20.91) in the event.
-
The 200 Meter Finals was stacked with Peacocks, as two were able to take top-15 finishes. Vernetta Gosier's time of 25.95 was good enough to edge out teammate Abigail Vital's time of 26.10, where both finished in 12th and 13th place respectively. They were joined in the race by Balikis Iyiola (25th, 26.77), Reyanna Henderson (25th, 27.03), Diamond McLaughlin (28th, 27.25), and KaRynn Hill (34th, 28.02).
-
In the field events, sophomore Aaliyah Booker grabbed a top-10 finish in the Pole Vault. Her mark of 2.90m was good enough for eighth place in the event.

Janai Orders put forth a strong effort in the Triple Jump, as she was able to take fourth place with a mark of 10.36m. This mark was just .3m off of her collegiate best.
