Dear Friends of Saint Peter's University Athletics,
WOW! It seems like only yesterday that the academic year was just starting with a women's soccer home game back in August. To say that the nine months that followed have been a whirlwind would be an understatement. I find myself once again going back to a few words that I used in last month's letter – incredible, unprecedented and, above all, historic – to articulate everything that transpired on and off the playing surface this past year. Simply returning to play was a victory within itself after navigating through all of the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic last year, but I truly am in awe of what our student-athletes and coaches accomplished despite the adversity they have had to overcome. So, before I go further, I would like to say THANK YOU to them for making everything that happened this year possible!
As the calendar turned to May, we donned our black-tie attire and celebrated an amazing year with our first in-person SP's Awards Show in three years! It was truly a wonderful night honoring and celebrating our student-athletes, coaches and many others on campus who made this year so special. And more importantly, we were able to honor all of our representatives from the Class of 2022 who are set to graduate later this month. We are so proud of you all and can't wait to see what is in store for all of you as you become proud Saint Peter's University alumni and alumnae!
As our student-athletes wrap up final exams this week, we do have teams that are still in action! Best of luck to the baseball team as they wrap up the regular season this weekend at home – please be sure to join us for their Senior Day this Saturday! There was also so much to celebrate from the rest of our spring teams; congratulations to the softball team, who enjoyed their best season in 15 years after posting 22 wins! And, a huge congratulations to head coach
Chris Stelma on being named the MAAC Coach of the Year! Our track & field team shined at the MAAC Championships two weekends ago, finishing with six medalists! And our men's golf program put forth a valiant effort at their conference championship at the end of April, finishing in 7th as a team led by a 15th-place finish from senior Melvin Morales!
We will NEVER forget the 2021-22 academic year and the manner in which our student-athletes inspired not just our campus and our city, but the entire country. I wish you all a restful summer; I can't wait to see you all again in August. And for the rest of Peacock Nation, we'll see you at the 2022 William J. & John Murray Peacock Athletics Golf Outing on Monday, June 13! Don't forget to register today by clicking

Once again, thank you for your continued support of Saint Peter's University Athletics. Happy early Memorial Day! Stay healthy, stay safe and GO PEACOCKS!
Sincerely,
Rachelle Paul
