Peacocks Grab Six Medals as MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship Closes on Sunday

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Saint Peter's University track & field teams returned to action over the course of the past two days for the MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The weekend proved successful for the Peacocks, as they return to Jersey City with six overall medals from the weekend.

How It Happened

  • The keynote of Saturday for the Peacocks came in the Hammer Throw. Teammates Ibrahim Seidou-Bakari and Dylan Powell were able to score 11 points in the throws, as they claimed third and fourth respectively. Seidou-Bakari's distance of 48.07m netted him both the bronze medal and a new personal collegiate best in the event by almost a full 2m. Powell's 46.92m was good for fourth place.

  • The first qualifier of the day on Saturday came in the 110 Hurdles on the men's side. Val Augustin posted a time of 15.51 in the prelims. He went on to capture bronze in the finals with a time of 14.78. This time is a new personal collegiate best for Augustin in the event.

  • Vernetta Gosier left Lawrenceville with two more MAAC medals to add to the four she already had at home. On Saturday, she placed first in her heat during the prelims of the 100 with a time of 12.48 and second in her heat with a time of 25.43 in the 200. The silver medal came in the 100 with a time of 12.13 and the bronze in the 200 with a time of 25.18. Both times are now personal collegiate bests for Gosier.

  • The fifth medal of the weekend came courtesy of Diamond McLaughlin in the 400 Hurdles. On Saturday, she finished first in her heat with a time of 1:06.01. She captured the bronze medal in the finals on Sunday with a time of 1:02 flat.

  • The final medal of the weekend came from the 4x400 men's relay team. Quincy Hendy, Isaiah Sanchez, Clardo Nestor, and Michael Conover teamed up to take the silver medal in the finals with a time of 3:15.77.

  • The women's team finished in sixth place, totaling 35.5 points. The men's team captured 45 points, good for seventh place.
