JERSEY CITY, N.J. (June 27, 2022) - The Saint Peter's University women's volleyball team led by head coach Joe Chojnacki has released its 2022 schedule complete with 31 matches, nine of which will be held inside Run Baby Run Arena.
The Peacocks will open the season on Aug. 26 when they take on Merrimack College in the Holly Young Invitational in Durham, N.H., and will play their first home contest on Oct. 1 against Marist College.
After opening the season against the Warriors, SPU will take on both St. Francis Brooklyn and tournament host the University of New Hampshire on Aug. 27 to close out the Invitational.
Before the calendar turns to September, the Peacocks will close out August with a trip to Newark, N.J., to take on New Jersey Institute of Technology Aug. 30.
SPU will then travel to New Britain, Conn., to compete in the CCSU Invitational Sept. 2-3. The Peacocks will take on Columbia University on Friday followed by a doubleheader versus host Central Connecticut State and Binghamton University on Saturday.
Following a quick midweek trip to Bethlehem, Pa., to take on Lehigh (Sept. 7), SPU will head to Providence, R.I., for the Friar Classic where they'll match up with host Providence College (Sept. 9), Holy Cross University (Sept. 10) and NJIT (Sept. 10).
The non-conference schedule for the Peacocks will close out with a Sept. 14th contest in Easton, Pa., against Lafayette College and a match on Sept. 28 in Hackensack, N.J., versus Fairleigh Dickinson University.
SPU kicks off Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) competition with three consecutive road tilts as they head to Lawrenceville, N.J., to take on Rider University (Sept. 17), Riverdale, N.Y., to face off with Manhattan College (Sept. 24) and New Rochelle, N.Y., to match up with Iona College (Sept. 25).
As October comes so too do the home contests for SPU as the Peacocks will host Siena College on Oct. 2 after taking on the Red Foxes the day prior to open up the home campaign.
A mid-week tilt against Iona in Jersey City is next for Saint Peter's on Oct. 5 before heading upstate for back-to-back contests against Canisius College (Oct. 8) and Niagara University (Oct. 9).
The longest string of consecutive home games follows as the Peacocks will play the next four contests inside the Yanitelli Center starting with a weekend with matches against Fairfield University and Quinnipiac University Oct. 15 and 16, respectively.
Following that, SPU will host Manhattan (Oct. 19) and Rider (Oct. 22) in back-to-back home matches before hitting the road once again to take on Siena in Loudenville, N.Y., (Oct. 29) and Marist in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (Oct. 30).
The final home weekend of the season will consist of contests against Niagara on Nov. 5 and Canisius on Nov. 6 and the regular season concludes with a Nov. 12 contest at Quinnipiac in Hamden, Conn., and the final match of the year Nov. 13 at Fairfield in Bridgeport, Ct.
The MAAC Tournament will be held in Lake Buena Vista, Fl., at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Nov. 16-20 with all 10 schools qualifying for the tournament.
