JERSEY CITY, N.J. -
Jennifer Leedham was formally introduced as the ninth head coach of the Saint Peter's University women's basketball program to the University community on Thursday afternoon during a press conference inside Run Baby Run Arena.
Saint Peter's University President Acting President Dr. Frederick Bonato and Director of Athletics
Rachelle Paul were on hand to deliver opening remarks before Leedham addressed those in attendance, which included the university community, students, fans, alumni, the Board of Trustees and members of the media.
Leedham takes over the reins at Saint Peter's after serving as associate head coach at St. Francis Brooklyn, where she helped guide the Terriers to one of their best seasons in program history in 2021-22. Last winter, SFC posted a 17-10 overall record and finished 13-3 in the Northeast Conference, finishing second in the NEC standings and setting a new program record for victories. Under Leedham's guidance, the Terriers led the NEC in a number of offensive categories including scoring offense (64.7 ppg) and assists per game (14.3).
Leedham will be taking over a Peacock program that has soared to new heights in recent seasons. SPU has advanced to at least the Quarterfinals of the MAAC Tournament in back-to-back seasons. The Peacocks also made their first appearance in the MAAC Title game since 2002 in 2020-21 and have had at least one All-MAAC selection in each of the last three seasons.
