NEWARK, N.J. - The Saint Peter's Women's Basketball team fell short to NJIT 66-47 Tuesday night in Newark. The Peacocks had two players score in double figures, led by Senior Rachel Kuhl, who had 13 points, and freshman Carys Roy, who chipped in 16 points and eight rebounds as well.
How It Happened
Carys Roy achieved a new season and career high, scoring 16 points. Roy secured three offensive rebounds, playing a pivotal role in Saint Peter's offense by creating second chance opportunities. She showcased efficiency, shooting 55.6% from the field and a staggering 85.7% from the free-throw line.
At the end of the first quarter, the Peacocks were down by four points. The Highlanders added onto their lead at the end of the second quarter, leaving the score 37-19 at halftime.
Out of the half, Kuhl hit two shots from beyond the three-point arc. Similar to Roy, Kuhl also had her season and career high tonight of 13 points. Contributing across the board, she managed a balanced performance with a steal, an assist, and a rebound, showcasing her versatility on the court.
On the defensive side, the squad had seven steals.
