Women's Basketball Adds Six More to Incoming Class

JERSEY CITY, N.J.- Saint Peter's University Women's Basketball Head Coach Jen Leedham adds six additional recruits to her incoming class for the upcoming 2023-24 season. Coach Leedham on her class, "We are extremely excited about the additional six players we've added this Spring. We were intentional with our recruiting and feel we have added some high caliber players that will be able to impact our program one way or another. Above all, they are hardworking and model citizens that are all enthusiastic about impacting the future of our program."

Mikia Keith
Guard Indianapolis, Ind./Pike High School/Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Graduate
  • mikia keith signed 2023Coach Leedham: "Mikia not only brings experience to our program but a work ethic that we feel will set the tone for us on a daily basis. She has shown the ability to be impactful at this level in multiple ways."
  • Three-time All-Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference and two-time All-City pick
  • Named team Most Valuable Player her sophomore and junior seasons
  • Scored 1,000 points in high school
  • Led Pike to two sectional championships and three conference titles
  • Averaged 15.2 points, 3.2 assists and 3.1 steals per game as a junior
  • Selected for All-City and All-Conference awards in both 2016 and 2017.
  • Earned National Honor Society, MIC Academic Players of the Year, Principals academic award and Presidential Scholars Award
  • At Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (2018-22): Played in 114 games in four seasons. 
 
Maya Hyacienth
Guard Nottingham, England/City of London Academy/Rider University Graduate
  • maya hycienth signed Coach Leedham: "Maya is a familiar face to our conference, she brings experience and a lot of versatility. She was a proven shooter last season, shooting 41% from behind the arc. Maya has a level of explosiveness and defensive tenacity we can't wait to tap into."
  • Played for national team (England) on U15 Development Squad in Denmark in 2014, U16 National Team in Romania 2016
  • Named U16 National Cup MVP with 30 points, 9 rebounds, 7 steals.
  • Played for the City of London Academy of the WEABL…was twice named the WEABL Player of the Week.
  • Also played club for the Southwark Pride a team that captured U18 National League Championships in 2018 and 2019.
  • Played in Hoopsfix All Star Classic Game in 2019.
  • At Rider University (2019-23): Played in 84 games in four seasons, three-time MAAC All-Academic selection
 
Layla Laws
Forward Pine Beach, N.J./Donovan Catholic/Saint Rose/Saint Francis University (Pa.) Junior
  • layla laws signedCoach Leedham: "Layla is an athletic, position-less player that we believe can create match up problems. She has the ability to contribute all over the floor. She gives us depth in multiple positions with her versatility."
  • Three-year letter winner at St. Rose after lettering her freshman year at Donovan Catholic.
  • Named Shore Conference Pod-7 Second Team, All-Shore Honorable Mention and Defensive Player of the Year Honorable Mention by Coast Star.
  • Three-time conference champion and won the Non-Public New Jersey State Championship in 2018-19 as a sophomore.
  • While at St. Rose, compiled a 61-15 overall record and a 34-4 conference record and matched up against the top offensive opposing player.
  • Finished third in the state meet for track in the 100 meters, also running in the Meet of Champions and lettered for one year in soccer.
  • At Saint Francis University (2021-23): Played in 42 games in two seasons, averaged 6.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in 2022-23.
 
Reilly Sunday

  • reilly sunday signedCoach Leedham: "Reilly is a floor general with an extremely high IQ. She will bring poise and organization for us at the point guard position. She is a hard worker that naturally embodies the culture of our program on a daily basis. Her size will be able to contribute to our team's versatility defensively."

Emily O'Connell
Guard London, England/City of London Academy First-Year
  • emill oconnell signedCoach Leedham: "Emily adds depth for us at the PG spot. She brings international experience and comes from one of the most successful programs in the UK. She is a competitor and extremely hard working. She is selfless and embodies all of the attributes we look for in our program."

Maria Fux
Forward Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina/C.E. Brigadier Lopez/NJIT Graduate
  • maria fux signedCoach Leedham: "Maria brings experience to our roster as a graduate student. She adds depth at the forward position. She is a great fit for our locker room and we know she will bring a consistent work ethic, doing whatever the team needs to be successful day in and day out."
  • Member of the Argentinian national team, participated in six national FIBA tournaments, capturing the title at the South American Tournament Champions in 2017 and placed third in the FIBA Americas in 2018.
  • Two-time national champion representing Santa Fe province, Fux attended C.E. Brigadier Lopez High School
  • At NJIT (2019-23): Played in 106 games in four seasons... Scored 353 points, 362 rebounds and 44 blocks.
