JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Saint Peter's Men's Basketball team (14-11, 10-6 MAAC) earned its third consecutive win over Mount St. Mary's (11-16, 7-10 MAAC) 70-65 at Knott Arena on Friday.
The Peacocks had two players in double figures, led by Corey Washington (25 points, eight rebounds, one assist, one block, one steal) and Latrell Reid (16 points, a team-high six assists, and four rebounds). Washington went 10-15 from the field (66.7%) and 1-2 from three-point range (50%). Washington scored 20+ points for the sixth time this season.
Marcus Randolph shot efficiently from beyond the arc. Randolph went 3-5 (60%). This was the third game in a row that Randolph made at least three three-pointers and shot over 60% from downtown.
Mouhamed Sow scored eight points, with eight rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.
The back-and-forth contest was tied thirteen times and featured seven lead changes. Saint Peter's outscored MSM 19-8 in the final five minutes of the game.
MSM's De'Shayne Montgomery led the Mountaineers with 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists. The Mountaineers shot 24-53 (45.3%) from the field.
The victory marked the first regular-season sweep of Saint Peter's over Mount St. Mary's in program history (MSM joined the MAAC in 2022).
With the win, the Peacocks moved up to fourth in the MAAC standings behind Fairfield (16-10, 10-5 MAAC), Marist (15-9, 10-5 MAAC), and Quinnipiac (19-6, 11-3 MAAC).

Washington scored the first six points for Saint Peter's in the game.

The Mountaineers went up 20-13 before the Peacocks went on an 11-0 run. Buckets from Washington and Sow gave the Peacocks a 22-20 advantage.

With 2:29 left in the half, Randolph added a three-pointer, which extended SPU's lead to 27-22.

In the final two minutes of the half, MSM scored seven straight. Reid scored a put-back layup at the buzzer, and the game was tied 29-29 at halftime.

Saint Peter's shot 50% (15-30) from the field in the second half.

The Peacocks jumped out to a 36-31 lead after Randolph's second three-pointer before the Mountaineers tied up the game at 36-36 with 14:19 left.

Up 41-40, Reid scored six straight points for the Peacocks. After his third bucket, a contested shot in the paint, Saint Peter's led 47-45.

Three free throws from Montgomery and a three-pointer from MSM's Patrick Haigh put the Mountaineers up 51-47. Reid assisted Washington on two straight baskets. At the 7:30 mark, Reid connected with Washington on an alley-oop, which tied the game at 51-51.

MSM answered with a 6-0 run and led 57-51. The Peacocks scored the next eight consecutive points and outscored the Mountaineers 19-8 in the final five minutes.

The Peacocks trailed by two after Randolph's third three-pointer from the corner. Sow tied the game at 57-57 with a put-back dunk.

A jump shot from Reid, followed by a three-pointer from Washington, extended SPU's lead to 64-59 with 46 seconds left.

Reid, Sow, and Washington went 2-2 from the charity stripe in the final 45 seconds of the game, and Saint Peter's secured the road victory at 70-65.

Washington tied a season-high with 10 field goals. The SPU sophomore has made 10 field goals in three games this season (SPU is 3-0 in those games).
