JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Saint Peter's Men's Basketball team (11-8, 7-3 MAAC) fell to Niagara (11-10, 7-4 MAAC) 68-59 in overtime Friday night at Run Baby Run Arena.
Roy Clarke led the Peacocks with a season-high 21 points, three rebounds, and one steal. Clarke shot an efficient 6-12 from the field, and 2-4 from three-point range.
Niagara had four players in double figures led by Luke Bumbalough and Bayless Braxton with 14 points, followed by Harlan Obioha (12 points), and Kwane Marble (12 points).
Down the stretch, the Peacocks were up 10 with 8:02 left in the second half. The Purple Eagles responded with an 11-0 run and took a 49-48 lead with 1:07 left in the game. Mouhamed Sow knocked down a mid-range jump shot with 46 seconds left. Niagara's Bayless Braxton scored a layup and Clarke added a free throw to put the score at 51-51.
In overtime, Bumbalough hit two three-pointers for Niagara. Clarke scored the last six points for the Peacocks in overtime. Clarke went 2-2 from the charity stripe and scored a pair of layups. The Peacocks trailed 64-59 with 54 seconds left. Free throws from Braxton and a dunk from Quandre Bullock sealed the victory for the Purple Eagles.
The Peacocks (11-8) fell to 7-3 in MAAC play and are second in the MAAC standings.
